Female Leadership in Security &
Empowerment of Female Civilians working with the Security Sector

Captured at the SHE_SEES exhibition in Portsmouth, June 2025.
For over a decade, we have engaged in consultancy across Civilian, Police, and Military sectors, as well as within the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus. Throughout this time, we have encountered a recurring challenge: navigating hierarchical environments - predominantly occupied by men - with limited representation of women.
We recognize that securing a seat at the table as female civilian experts in traditionally male-dominated fields requires a robust network grounded in mutual support. Accordingly, founded on trust and shared commitment, we have made a “pinky promise” to empower one another and fellow professionals in our field.
What We Aim To Achieve:
We aim to translate our experiences into best practices. Alongside our efforts to improve working conditions for women in policing and military roles, and to promote gender equality and meaningful female participation in peace and security, we recognize that maintaining a supportive system for women in our industry is essential to the success of our network.
What We Share:
We believe that a supportive network offers strength and encouragement, enabling women to persevere and thrive. By sharing experiences and lessons learned, we aim to identify effective strategies for navigating the complexities of our work environments. We are dedicated to building a strong network of professionals—both women and men—who share a common vision of overcoming barriers.
