A year full of weekly travel and significant milestones is coming to an end. In 2025, Nina Steinitz was seconded to NATO by the German Centre for International Peace Operations (ZIF) on behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office. She served as an advisor to the Defence Capacity Building (DCB) Programme in the areas of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and curriculum development.

At partner level, Nina worked directly at the Ministry of Defence level to support the institutionalization of the UN Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda and the integration of gender perspectives into military operations within armed forces. She designed and facilitated a participatory curriculum development process through numerous workshops and coordinated capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening WPS and training capabilities. Her work included fostering cooperation across WPS, Gender in Military Operations (GMO), NATO Education and Training, and Professional Military Education, collaborating with NATO Headquarters, Allied member states, and Partnership Training and Education Centres.
